Services for Children

Clare Haven Services provides children and young people up to the age of the age of sixteen with various support programmes and activities within the refuge.  The Childcare Team are committed to working with children, helping them to come to terms with their experiences of abuse.

During their stay in the refuge:

• We provide practical and emotional support for children so that they can develop and express themselves through creative play.
• We can support mothers in their relationship with their children.
• We organise recreational activities.
• We can liaise other agencies to provide/specialist support for your child.
• We can help find appropriate school places for children.

Play Therapy

Clare Haven Services provides a limited number of play therapy sessions for children affected by domestic violence.  Early intervention with children who are vulnerable or at risk from domestic abuse may prevent serious harm from happening to them at a later stage.

Through play therapy we can support these children to move forward safely.
